July 2020, 31 : a new free guitar cabinet impulse responses collection is available. IRs were created with a custom made 112 cab, front-loaded with a Celestion® G12H30™ Anniversary speaker.

I bought a used G12H30 in July as I was looking for new tone and was interested in testing this one. I had the opportunity to notice that it was a speaker with a lot of potential for metal from a few youtube demos and from IRs I had previously bought. Came back home and mounted it in my German 1*12 and wow ! What a great speaker ! Lots of low-end and low-mids and a very well designed hi-mids and treble area -for my taste-, less harsh than it’s V30 cousin but still capable of a lot of clarity. We could say it is a V30 with low-end and low-mids on steroids ? Suited for metal and many other styles, IMHO.

This first G12H30 collection is recorded with a custom made 1*12 CAB : front-loaded, same dimensions as the German 1*12 from other collections but no port. It still produces a very decent amount of bass, especially with this speaker. You will have to use an aggressive low-cut filter or lower your amp bass settings to regain clarity with generous amps or low tunings. Looking for massive sound ? Test the G12H30 !

A few samples

A few samples with the G12H30 IRs, using a Randall Thrasher 50, and OD9. SD JB pickup C tuning.

A Youtube demo

Various speakers in this demo, including the G12H30, where the guy gets a very nice tone, IMHO.
