November 28, 2025 : Neural DSP has released a major update for the Quad Cortex. This update includes a new firmware version -CorOS 3.3.0- and an update for the control software for Mac and PC, Cortex Control (1.4.0). A new, more precise version of Neural DSP’s profiling technology is included (Neural Capture V2), along with numerous new captures and modeled gear.
This is a significant update, featuring a new capture procedure that delivers increased accuracy and realism, according to Neural DSP and judging from initial feedback of YouTubers who have implemented and tested this new version. This new procedure requires an internet connection to the Neural DSP cloud during capture, as part of the processing is now handled in the cloud: the Quad Cortex uploads the captured signals, they are processed in the cloud, and then the model is saved to your account and downloaded to your Quad Cortex. This new procedure is slightly longer than the previous one, as it now takes approximately 10 minutes. Currently, each user can perform up to 40 captures per day. The new procedure therefore offers a more precise and realistic rendering and is recommended for better capturing amps or pedals with highly dynamic or more complex behavior (such as fuzz or sag effects). New V2 blocks have been introduced: they require higher CPU resource than their V1 counterparts. The two capture systems are designed to coexist, so the V1 capture procedure remains available.
But this update isn’t limited to the V2 capture, with many other new features:
- 669 new V2 captures (41 pieces of gear) are available, including:
- 17 amp heads (including Brit 2203 87, Drywood Purple Horror, Dumbbell ODS, ENG Feral 120 (Savage), EV101IIIS EL34, Fryed Pit Bull 50, etc.)
- 2 combos
- 4 compressors
- 11 fuzz pedals
- 7 overdrives
- 29 new amp models (including the Dumbbell ODS)
- 17 new cabs
- the addition of Mono Synth (a free version of the Overlord Synth from the Rabea X plugin)
- 2 new modulation effects (micropitch delay and tremolo)
- 3 new “morph” effects
- 1 overdrive, 1 pitch shifter, 1 waveform effect
- 2 new reverbs
And of course, bug fixes and other new features in the control software.
