CAB and mics

The guitar cabinet used for this collection is a German-made 1*12 cabinet, ported, and front-loaded with a 12 inches Mojotone Greyhound speaker (8 ohms). This speaker provides an interesting tone and can cover many styles and many genres. The top end is relatively restrained/soft compared to other usual guitar speakers. The collection suffix “GM” stands for “Grey Mojo”.

• The preamp used is the “solid state preamp 2”
• Capture based on a German 112 cabinet loaded with a 12 inches Greyhound speaker, 8 ohms
• 3 dynamic mics, 2 ribbon mic, 56 IR files in WAV format, downsampled to 44,1 kHz
• Using updated publication format : 24 bits / 100 ms
• 5 microphones :
  • DYN-57 : classic 57 tone
  • DYN-421 : classic 421 tone, aim for darker positions to limit brightness
  • DYN-US-6 : aggressive dynamic tone
  • RBN-160 : classic ribbon tone
  • RBN-US-1 : classic ribbon tone, boxier and darker than 160

• Recorded with class-D amp, « Gen4 » settings
• -LC suffix : low-cut at 45 Hz was engaged, bringing less bass and more clarity and balance to the capture

Samples

The samples below are created in Logic ProX, re-amping Lasse Lammert Mago DI tracks with a custom AIDA-X Dual Rectifier model loaded in Two-Notes Genome CODEX. IRs are loaded in Nadir. The precise model used is the following : ODN-DR-AP-2B-CH3-RED-808-HVY.aidax (Dual Rectifier Channel 3 modern with a Maxon 808). The screenshot below illustrates the settings used (CODEX enhancer in use) : 1 plugin with stereo routing to 2 Codex instances (same model and settings used left / right).
