These impulse response files (IRs) are free and as mentioned in the Terms of Use, no warranty of any kind is provided with these files (issues, sound problems, inability to use them, sound quality, damages of any kind…).

The riffs and partial song covers presented here as samples are used for illustration and educational purposes (using amps and IRs). These riffs and songs remain the property of their copyright owners.

CAB and mics

The guitar cabinet on which this collection is based on is a German front-loaded and ported 1*12 cabinet, loaded with a Celestion V-Type speaker (8 ohms). The IRs in this collection are unprocessed IRs and only use low-cut filters (-LC files). This speaker is capable of many great tones, with a treble section that is peaking lower than a typical V30 and producing a tone that is way less harsh. It can cover a very wide range of genres and styles, from clean, bluesy, rock and metal… In this specific situation, the tone produced is a little bit scooped, with the front-loaded 112 cab exaggerating the low-end peak in the 100-120 Hz area. The overall results that you will get will greatly vary, depending on the voicing of the amp or amp sim you pair with it…. I kept much of the low-end in these captures : use and adjust your low-cuts for most of the microphones, especially for the ribbon one included as it has a massive low-end and produce a very dark tone by default. So do not hesitate to use a low-cut -up to 100-120 Hz- to regain some clarity on the ribbon mic(s) of this collection, as well as cranking the tone of your overdrives.

Samples

A few samples to showcase the type of tone that can be achieved with these VT IRs :

  • Samples 01 and 02 : Line6 Helix Native (Elmsey and Oblivion amps), TH-U SuperCabinet
  • Samples 03 and 04 : Genome/CODEX, with ODN-7606 NAM amp (inspired by a 6505 amplifier)
  • Samples 05 and 06 : Kemper with Liquid Profile of a 800-style preamp, IR loaded and adjuster on KPA.
