These impulse response files (IRs) are free and as mentioned in the Terms of Use, no warranty of any kind is provided with these files (issues, sound problems, inability to use them, sound quality, damages of any kind…).

The riffs and partial song covers presented here as samples are used for illustration and educational purposes (using amps and IRs). These riffs and songs remain the property of their copyright owners.

CAB and mics

The guitar cabinet used for this collection is the « German-112 », front-loaded with a Gov speaker (8 ohms). The previous collections using this speaker were recorded with KT-88 or 6L6 power-amps. This time the configuration uses a neutral class-D power amplifier and this collection provides a more transparent tone, and is more faithful to the “real” tone of the speaker. Paired with this cabinet, the Eminence can be quite aggressive : so, as usual, revisit your treble/presence/gain setting to adapt to the colour of this speaker. It provides very solid tones for metal and rock, and is -IMHO- easier to work with than the V30, with less aggressivity in the treble section. Is has a nice growl, though… 🙂

• The preamp used is the “solid state preamp 1”.

• Capture based on an Eminence® Governor, 8 ohms
• 4 dynamic mics, 2 ribbon mics, 135 IR files in WAV 44 kHz format
• 6 microphones :
  • DYN-57 : classic Gov / 57 tone
  • DYN-US-6 : a 57 on steroids
  • DYN-US-8: quite scooped
  • RBN-DE-2 : room positions, very fun to use IMHO
  • RBN-CN-2 : lots of tone options, from dark, to balanced and relatively bright
  • DYN-CN-7 : a replica of SM57 with a slight bass boost or contour
• Recorded in home studio conditions
• Recorded with a class-D power amp, with flat settings
