Steve Atkinson a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 le r\u00e9sultat de ses recherches sur une nouvelle architecture pour NAM le 7 D\u00e9cembre \u00e0 San Diego dans un atelier \u00e0 NeurIPS (Conf\u00e9rence Neural Information Processing Systems), sur le th\u00e8me \u00ab Where Creativity Meets Computation \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve a travaill\u00e9 sur sur une nouvelle architecture pour NAM permettant de \u00ab\u00a0caler\u00a0\u00bb -ou de d\u00e9finir- le niveau de consommation CPU -et probablement le niveau de consommation m\u00e9moire- n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 l\u2019ex\u00e9cution des mod\u00e8les NAM, apr\u00e8s<\/strong> entra\u00eenement du mod\u00e8le, en configurant le niveau de complexit\u00e9\/fid\u00e9lit\u00e9, au chargement du mod\u00e8le (approche nomm\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0slimmable NAM\u00a0\u00bb).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partant du constant qu\u2019on ne trouve pas de player hardware NAM pour les mod\u00e8les standard a prix abordable ou budget aujourd\u2019hui et que les lecteurs NAM abordables (Valeton, Hotone, Nux,\u2026)  utilisent tous une d\u00e9marche propri\u00e9taire, Steve a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de proposer une solution plus universelle et plus standard, qui pourrait<\/em> \u00eatre adopt\u00e9e dans le futur par les diff\u00e9rents fournisseurs de mat\u00e9riel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour faire fonctionner les mod\u00e8les aujourd\u2019hui sur des hardwares disposant de ressources CPU limit\u00e9es, il est n\u00e9cessaire de passer soit par une conversion propri\u00e9taire (cas des multi-effets cit\u00e9s ci-dessus), soit par la cr\u00e9ation de mod\u00e8les simplifi\u00e9s moins gourmands en ressources (les mod\u00e8les NANO, FEATHER, LITE, ce qui n\u00e9cessite plusieurs entrainements diff\u00e9rents (un par architecture) et n\u00e9cessite \u00e9galement d\u2019empiler des tas de versions de mod\u00e8les\u2026. A l\u2019instar des chargeurs d\u2019IRs qui tronquent une IR au format support\u00e9 par le lecteur (512 points, 1024 points, 2048 points \u2026.) et permet au hardware de limiter la complexit\u00e9 des op\u00e9rations n\u00e9cessaires pour le rendu (CPU notamment mais aussi l\u2019espace de stockage de l\u2019IR elle-m\u00eame), la future architecture baptis\u00e9e \u00ab A2<\/strong> \u00bb par Steve devrait permettre d\u2019appliquer une approche similaire aux mod\u00e8les NAM : \u00e0 partir d\u2019un mod\u00e8le A2 \u00ab standard \u00bb , le hardware pourra s\u00e9lectionner au chargement -ou peut-\u00eatre dynamiquement- un niveau de fid\u00e9lit\u00e9 et donc de cout CPU\u2026. Cela pourrait ouvrir des sc\u00e9narios ou les conversions deviennent inutiles et ou le hardware pourrait \u00e9ventuellement supporter plusieurs niveaux de fid\u00e9lit\u00e9 : imaginez un sc\u00e9nario ou un multi-effets pourrait proposer de supporter le mod\u00e8le standard (ou toute autre qualit\u00e9 \u00ab maximum \u00bb par rapport au CPU utilis\u00e9) mais imposerait ensuite une limitation en nombre de blocs additionnels et qu\u2019en s\u00e9lectionnant une option \u00ab lite \u00bb sur votre mod\u00e8le NAM, le mat\u00e9riel vous permette d\u2019utiliser plus de blocs d\u2019effets\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019id\u00e9e de Steve est de proposer cette approche \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9 et de voir comment elle r\u00e9agira \u2026 une affaire \u00e0 suivre dans les prochains mois \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
