{"id":389,"date":"2019-11-24T19:43:17","date_gmt":"2019-11-24T18:43:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/overdriven.fr\/overdriven\/?p=389"},"modified":"2020-03-06T20:42:59","modified_gmt":"2020-03-06T19:42:59","slug":"reponses-impulsionnelles-partie-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/overdriven.fr\/overdriven\/index.php\/fr\/2019\/11\/24\/reponses-impulsionnelles-partie-3\/","title":{"rendered":"R\u00e9ponses impulsionnelles : partie 3"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans ce troisi\u00e8me volet nous allons nous pencher d&rsquo;une part sur la principale technique d&rsquo;enregistrement utilis\u00e9e en guitare (m\u00e9tal) et d&rsquo;autre part sur une technique d&rsquo;\u00e9galisation \u00e9l\u00e9mentaire constitu\u00e9e par l&rsquo;utilisation de deux filtres : les filtres passe-haut et passe-bas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Close miking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La principale technique d&rsquo;enregistrement employ\u00e9e pour les guitares satur\u00e9es consiste \u00e0 placer un micro de mani\u00e8re tr\u00e8s proche du haut parleur de guitare : de 0 centim\u00e8tres \u00e0 quelques centim\u00e8tres. Ils peuvent \u00eatre positionn\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re perpendiculaire au haut-parleur au \u00eatre plus ou moins inclin\u00e9s (angle de quelques degr\u00e9s jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 45 degr\u00e9s g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/overdriven.fr\/overdriven\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/irpart3_close_miking.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-395\" width=\"452\" height=\"603\" srcset=\"https:\/\/overdriven.fr\/overdriven\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/irpart3_close_miking.png 756w, https:\/\/overdriven.fr\/overdriven\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/irpart3_close_miking-225x300.png 225w, https:\/\/overdriven.fr\/overdriven\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/irpart3_close_miking-600x800.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 452px) 100vw, 452px\" \/><figcaption>Prise de son de proximit\u00e9<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette technique permet de capter un ensemble de fr\u00e9quences particulier en fonction de la position du micro en jouant sur deux caract\u00e9ristiques : <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>la tr\u00e8s forte directivit\u00e9 des hauts-parleur lorsque l&rsquo;on s&rsquo;en approche (aigus plus pr\u00e9sents au centre et \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 du HP car moins dispers\u00e9s)<\/li><li>d&rsquo;utiliser l&rsquo;effet de proximit\u00e9 des micros: cet effet augmente le niveau de captation des fr\u00e9quences basses \u00e0 mesure que le micro est approch\u00e9 du HP (distance en g\u00e9n\u00e9rale inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 25 \u00e0 30 centim\u00e8tres environ).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans ces conditions, un faible changement de position a une incidence tr\u00e8s forte sur l&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre de l&rsquo;enregistrement : cela a constitu\u00e9 et constitue encore le premier moyen de faire une \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9galisation\u00a0\u00bb du son en choisissant telle ou telle position. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note : d&rsquo;un HP \u00e0 l&rsquo;autre et d&rsquo;un micro \u00e0 l&rsquo;autre on obtient des r\u00e9sultats tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rents pour une m\u00eame position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette technique est utilis\u00e9e dans de nombreux cas de figures, pour diff\u00e9rents  instruments et amplis ou pour la voix : elle permet notamment d&rsquo;isoler le signal du bruit ambiant et d&rsquo;\u00e9viter les effets de r\u00e9verb\u00e9ration, et elle permet \u00e9galement d&rsquo;isoler les instruments entre eux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La captation des IRs est soumise aux m\u00eames principes et les fournisseurs d&rsquo;IRs proposent des ensembles de positions de micro plus ou moins vari\u00e9s pour permettre aux joueurs de disposer de toute une palette de sons. Pour les amateurs de sons satur\u00e9s, les effets extr\u00eames se combinent : l&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre de fr\u00e9quences obtenu \u00e0 travers une IR en close miking est pouss\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;extr\u00eame par la distortion et les harmoniques associ\u00e9es g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par un ampli. En jouant en clean, on per\u00e7oit \u00e9galement de forts changements de rendu en changeant de HP\/micro\/position mais c&rsquo;est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement beaucoup moins spectaculaire ou extr\u00eame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La figure ci-dessous pr\u00e9sente les noms usuels des zones du haut parleur, et -par extension- les noms fr\u00e9quemment utilis\u00e9s pour d\u00e9signer les diff\u00e9rentes positions d&rsquo;enregistrement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/overdriven.fr\/overdriven\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/irpart3_basic_speaker_positions.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-398\" width=\"541\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"https:\/\/overdriven.fr\/overdriven\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/irpart3_basic_speaker_positions.png 624w, https:\/\/overdriven.fr\/overdriven\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/irpart3_basic_speaker_positions-300x274.png 300w, https:\/\/overdriven.fr\/overdriven\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/irpart3_basic_speaker_positions-600x547.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 541px) 100vw, 541px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Les termes employ\u00e9s d\u00e9signent : <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>la capsule centrale ((dust) cap, capsule anti poussi\u00e8res)<\/li><li>le bord de la capsule centrale (cap edge)<\/li><li>le c\u00f4ne du haut-parleur (cone)<\/li><li>le bord ext\u00e9rieur du c\u00f4ne (cone edge)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Le micro est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 sur l&rsquo;axe (on-axis) lorsqu&rsquo;il pointe la zone cap, et hors axe pour les autres positions (off-axis). Si le micro est perpendiculaire au HP il est dit \u00ab\u00a0straight on axis\u00a0\u00bb, sinon il est positionn\u00e9 selon un angle (\u00ab\u00a0angled\u00a0\u00bb)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Certains fournisseurs d&rsquo;IRs peuvent utiliser ces termes pour nommer leurs fichiers. Une distance faible permet au micro de produire plus de basses, l&rsquo;\u00e9loignement diminue les basses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CABs, hauts-parleurs et micros<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Le comportement de ce trio se retrouve capt\u00e9 au sein des IRs. Chaque maillon va contribuer au rendu : <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Le type de CAB, son volume et l&rsquo;implantation des HPs<\/li><li>Le haut-parleur, avec son rendu sp\u00e9cifique<\/li><li>Le micro et sa position qui vont tr\u00e8s fortement colorer le r\u00e9sultat<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Le haut-parleur est bien s\u00fbr pr\u00e9pond\u00e9rant et donne une coloration sp\u00e9cifique: apr\u00e8s-tout, c&rsquo;est exactement ce que l&rsquo;on demande \u00e0 un HP guitare \ud83d\ude09 ! Si vous \u00eates un guitariste m\u00e9tal ou rock, alors vous savez d\u00e9j\u00e0 que l&rsquo;offre est massivement domin\u00e9e par Celestion et son mod\u00e8le Vintage 30 (V30). Mais Celestion propose par ailleurs de nombreux autres mod\u00e8les tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressants et s&rsquo;il est difficile ou couteux de disposer de plusieurs CABs ou de changer les hauts-parleurs de son CAB, il devient beaucoup plus facile de les mettre en oeuvre gr\u00e2ce aux IRs. D&rsquo;autres fournisseurs valent aussi le d\u00e9tour, et on pourra citer pour les guitares satur\u00e9es:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Eminence<\/li><li>WGS<\/li><li>Jensen<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Le CAB impacte \u00e9galement la captation : les rendus des 1*12, 2*12 ou 4*12 sont diff\u00e9rents -ce qui se comprend facilement du fait de volumes diff\u00e9rents et donc d&rsquo;une capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 fournir des basses de mani\u00e8re plus ou moins cons\u00e9quente-, mais, d&rsquo;un fournisseur \u00e0 l&rsquo;autre, les \u00e9quilibres changent \u00e9galement pour un m\u00eame haut-parleur utilis\u00e9, et ce de mani\u00e8re assez prononc\u00e9e pour la guitare satur\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enfin, le micro, dont la signature sonore est un \u00e9l\u00e9ment majeur dans la captation et le rendu final. Les micros fr\u00e9quemment utilis\u00e9s pour la cr\u00e9ation d&rsquo;IRs de guitare sont les suivants : <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Le Shure SM57 et ses nombreux clones<\/li><li>Le Sennheiser MD421<\/li><li>Les Sennheiser E906 et E609<\/li><li>Le Beyer Dynamic M160<\/li><li>L&rsquo;AKG C414<\/li><li>Le Royer 121<\/li><li>Le Neumann U87 <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;et il existe par ailleurs une offre pl\u00e9thorique de micros utilisables chez ces marques et d&rsquo;autres marques (Audix, Audio Technica, Electro Voice, &#8230;). On peut bien s\u00fbr essayer de corriger l&rsquo;\u00e9galisation de l&rsquo;ampli pour obtenir un meilleur r\u00e9sultat mais si on estime que l&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre obtenu est celui recherch\u00e9, on peut aussi commencer \u00e0 travailler sur l&rsquo;\u00e9qualisation de la prise de son, quite \u00e0 faire quelques it\u00e9rations \u00e9galisation ampli \/ \u00e9galisation de l&rsquo;IR. Pour commencer et avant de modifier les autres fr\u00e9quences, j&rsquo;utilise deux filtres \u00e9l\u00e9mentaires qui peuvent changer assez radicalement le rendu : les filtres HPF et LPF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HPF et LPF<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Les filtres passe-haut (High-pass filter ou Low cut) et passe-bas (Low Pass Filter ou High-Cut) sont tr\u00e8s importants sur les enregistrements de guitares \u00e9lectriques, et notamment pour les sons satur\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Low-cut permet de r\u00e9duire les fr\u00e9quences basses pour \u00e9liminer ou diminuer  la r\u00e9sonances des graves : on l&#8217;emploie g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement pour d\u00e9graisser le bas du spectre et gagner en pr\u00e9cision. Il est assez souvent plac\u00e9 dans la zone 60 \u00e0 90 hz, mais on peut trouver des situations ou on peut avoir besoins de le placer plus haut (120-140 HZ).<\/li><li>High-cut permet d&rsquo;\u00e9liminer ou r\u00e9duire la duret\u00e9 et les sifflements des aigus. On consid\u00e8re assez souvent pour la guitare qu&rsquo;un placement \u00e0 7500 Hz est id\u00e9al. Dans la pratique et en fonction du rendu, il peut \u00eatre descendu (par exemple \u00e0 5500 ou 6500 HZ) ou plac\u00e9 un peu plus haut (8000 Hz, 10000 Hz par exemple, assez rarement au dessus).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;utilisation de ces filtres peut modifier de fa\u00e7on <strong>tr\u00e8s importante<\/strong> l&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre sonore final : r\u00e9duire les basses provoque la remont\u00e9e des m\u00e9diums et des hautes fr\u00e9quences dans le son, r\u00e9duire les aigus remonte la perception des basses et m\u00e9diums. Ce changement d&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre va permettre de faire mieux ressortir le mix de fr\u00e9quences avec un son d\u00e9barrass\u00e9 des r\u00e9sonances et sifflements : la perception va s&rsquo;en trouver g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement grandement am\u00e9lior\u00e9e. Ce changement peut vous amener \u00e0 corriger \u00e0 nouveau diff\u00e9rents maillons de votre chaines (overdrive, ampli,&#8230;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Certains chargeurs de r\u00e9ponses impulsionnelles incorporent le low-cut et le high-cut. Sur un chargeur logiciel, on peut aussi utiliser des plugins d&rsquo;\u00e9galisation, d\u00e9di\u00e9 ou non \u00e0 cette tache et que l&rsquo;on placera post-chargeur de r\u00e9ponse. Attention, ces filtres peuvent avoir des rendus diff\u00e9rents en fonction des pentes employ\u00e9es (12-18-24-36 dB\/octave) et ils auront un effet de coupure plus ou moins agressif.  Les chargeurs au format p\u00e9dale tels que celui de Mooer ou de Two-Notes disposent de HPF et la Mooer dispose \u00e9galement d&rsquo;un LPF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les exemples suivants mettent en oeuvre le plugin FabFilter ProQ2 plac\u00e9 apr\u00e8s le chargeur Two-Notes. Un changement vers une autre IR off-axis un peu plus vers l&rsquo;ext\u00e9rieur du c\u00f4ne permettrait de trouver des sonorit\u00e9s plus adapt\u00e9es et une solution plus simple pour ces aigus tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Les techniques d&rsquo;enregistrement pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es ici sont appliqu\u00e9es lors de la cr\u00e9ation des IRs afin d&rsquo;offrir un ensemble de choix au guitariste ou \u00e0 l&rsquo;ing\u00e9nieur-son . Les IRs sonnent rarement d&#8217;embl\u00e9e tel qu&rsquo;on pourrait le vouloir (chacun ses sonorit\u00e9s pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9es !), et la premi\u00e8re mesure de correction que je vous invite \u00e0 consid\u00e9rer est l&#8217;emploi des deux filtres pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s dans cet article.
